First, read the TWO BASIC STEPS.

There are two basic guiding steps you can take to successfully set up and operate a business enterprise in Cambodia as a foreign national. The first step gets you well prepared. The second step gets your business idea and plan moving easily and faster on its way to actual realization. You can get specific information relevant to your particular business idea and plan if you email your inquiries to me.

The first step is what you can do while you are not yet in Cambodia.

The second step is what needs to be done when you are already there.

These two basic steps are outlined below.

STEP 1: What To Do While Not Yet In Cambodia

1. While you are still in your country, or in the place where you are currently located, use the email submission form provided on this page to ask and to receive the information you need that particularly applies to your specific business idea or purpose.

2. Find out what type of Cambodian visa you will need as a foreign resident and as a business owner in Cambodia.

3. Start making a written business plan for the enterprise you will engage in. (If needed, I can help you with this.)

4. Try to determine in your plan if you will operate your business as a single proprietorship enterprise, a partnership, a private limited company, or a corporation with stockholders. (With a team of local experts. I can help you determine the most appropriate business structure that fits your particular business idea and plan.)

5. Try to determine in your plan if you prefer to have 100% ownership of your business enterprise or if your business project needs to have local partners. (With a team of local experts, I can help you determine the most appropriate type of ownership and business management that best fits your particular idea and business operation plan in Cambodia.)

6. Find out what specific place in Cambodia your particular business can be located to attain its optimum gainful potential. (I can provide the profiles of places in Cambodia where you may foresee a feasible location for your business project.)

7. Know where you can live in Cambodia while setting up your business, and where you prefer to live when your business is already operational. (I can present to you choices of locations and an idea of their environment and condition.)

8. Start becoming acquainted with your contact person in Cambodia, or with the business consulting firm that can help you when you are already in the country. (I can introduce you to a reliable and honest business consulting firm.)

9. Email me your specific questions now while they are still fresh in your mind. (Scroll down for the email submission form.)

With specific "ground-level" information you can already get from CBG while still preparing in your place of residence or current location, your business idea and plan would more accurately hit your target market in Cambodia, even before you enter the country.

STEP 2: What To Do When Already in Cambodia

1. As soon as possible, engage a licensed and reputable business consulting firm that can easily do the procedures you need to go through to register your business. (I can recommend a reliable and honest business consulting firm.)

2. Promptly secure the particular visa you need as a foreign national and as a business owner in Cambodia.

3. Open a business and savings bank accounts in a stable and reputable bank in Cambodia. (I can recommend a bank that is recognized to be very stable, with highly acclaimed excellent customer service, and has remained completely free from any financial anomalies.)

4. If it is within your resources, make a survey of your potential market, the source and means of acquiring the supply you need, and of your existing competition. (I can help you know how this can be done.)

5. Let the business consulting firm that you have engaged help you find the best commercial location, and/or real estate, for your business project.

6. Let the business consulting firm help you determine and negotiate matters related to the rates and agreements in the leasing of commercial spaces, renting an apartment, the cost of construction, and the availability of real estate you may need to acquire.

7. Let the business consulting firm help you understand what is written in documents that provide government requirements, since they are written in Khmer (the Cambodian language), not in English.

8. Let the business consulting firm undertake the necessary procedures to register your business with the Cambodia Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Labor, the General Department of Taxation, and the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, to avoid difficulties and possible delay, since its assisting staff members are already familiar with the ways and means of navigating through the official system and dynamics involved in making a business registration in Cambodia.

The increasing population and modernizations in Cambodia are producing a big market potential not only for large-scale industries but also for small business enterprises.

Timely Economic Development in Cambodia for Foreign Investors

Through an economic development program called the Pentagonal Strategy, under the Cambodian Law on Investment, the government of Cambodia at this point offers generous incentives that can encourage the entry of foreign capital from developed countries, for SME (small and medium enterprises) or for venture and industrial capitalization. If you are a businessman who wants to extend your marketing operations to Asia, or you simply want to relocate to a more peaceful country that is ripe with profitable market potential, the expanding business opportunities in Cambodia are for you.

Why Can I Give You Vital Business Information You Need?

My clients call me Teo. Check out my profile on the About page. I am an independent freelance project development consultant. I myself am a foreign national living in Cambodia for the past fourteen years as an expatriate, on a retirement visa. I came to this country as the director of a postgraduate school that confers a master's degree to students pursuing studies in development management. In retirement, I give selective charitable assistance to those who need guidance in pursuing entrepreneurial ideas as part of my Christian ministry in Cambodia.

In my fourteen years of stay in the city of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, I became an eyewitness to the fast-rising growth of the potential market for entrepreneurs and industrialists. I see an increasing population rate and an expanding middle-class sector. The skyline has changed from rows of rooftops to rising skyscrapers, and from dusty roads to four-lane highways and cloverleaf interchanges. There is a recent pursuit of an active government economic development program that encourages the entry of foreign entrepreneurs. This is supported by global-standard modernization of facilities and services that foreign nationals are finding attractive and encouraging for long-term residency.

CBG PRINCIPLES OF ASSISTANCE

Reliable Business Intelligence

By personal and occupational experience, I know that as an entrepreneur, you are keen about good business planning, not hit-or-miss presumptions of business potential, and would want dependable information, accurate data, and "ground-level" and "localized" business intelligence that can help guide you in planning your business venture in Cambodia. Aware of this, I collaborate with institutionalized sources of information, right here in Cambodia, that can provide reliable business intelligence.

Honesty in Procedural Guidance

I set honesty as a primary criterion in my search for a reliable source of business information, since such information must not only be true and correct but must also be presented honestly. This is in addition to my requirement that the source of information must be licensed by the government, have long years of experience in business consulting, and have developed an expertise in navigating the procedures of business registration in the government.

Dependable Registration Assistance

When the time comes that you are already in Cambodia and ready to engage a licensed business consulting firm, I can give you the names of firms that offer registration assistance. I will also recommend a business consulting firm to you that I have personally observed to be honest and to have expertise in navigating the business registration procedures and in assisting clients in other matters that are peripheral, but vital, in the process of setting up a business enterprise in Cambodia.
