About CBG
The Cambodia Business Guide (CBG) provides easy-to-understand information on how you can easily set up a business enterprise in Cambodia as a foreign national.
The Cambodia Business Guide, with the internet domain of www.cambodiabusinessguide.com, is the creation of Teo Marte Tayo. He is a foreign national living in Cambodia on a retirement visa. This website is his personal gesture of cooperation with the economic development program of the government of Cambodia (called the Pentagonal Strategy for 2023 to 2050 socio-economic policy agenda) to encourage the entry of useful foreign investment that can, among others, increase national self-sufficiency in the local production of basic commodities, enhance the provision of vital and common services, and improve the meeting of gainful demands in the international trading market.
Mr. Tayo is an independent freelance project development consultant, helping entrepreneurial startups plan and pursue their business ideas to fruition. He provides selective charitable assistance to those who need guidance in pursuing entrepreneurial ideas as part of his Christian ministry in Cambodia.
He grew up in a family of businessmen, and at an early age, he was part of a family experience in setting up a small business from scratch, which grew into a highly profitable establishment. Seeing business potential and the active pursuit of business ideas has become a natural part of his insights and acumen.
He came to Cambodia, assigned as director of a post-graduate school that confers a master's degree (Master of Science in Development Management) to students, mostly professionals, who are working in international non-government organizations (NGO) and were studying to further enhance their knowledge and capability in development management. He has been a foreign expatriate living in Cambodia, as a resident on a retirement visa, for the past fourteen years.
Before retirement, he was a consultant to non-government organizations for entrepreneurship development and for community development projects in the Philippines for 23 years before relocating to Cambodia in 2011. His past work experience, among others, include being Associate Director for Planning and Development in the Community Development Program of Central Philippine University and was the Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Infection Control and Treatment (formerly Citizens Coalition Against Tuberculosis) in the Philippines, as well as project consultant in the Philippines Department of Health for WHO and GFATM programs against tuberculosis and HIV, from 2003 to 2011. He had served as a consultant in the creation and implementation of development projects following the Public-Private Mix (PPM) concept of government and private sector cooperation.
Along with his past work experience in entrepreneurship development and community development projects, Mr. Tayo has had an active role and participation in accessing grants and managing development funds provided by funding institutions in Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, and the United States that support projects for economic development and health programs that are implemented in developing Southeast Asian countries.
He is currently based, as a foreign resident, in the City of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
