VISA REQUIRED FOR A FOREIGN NATIONAL WITH A PLAN TO OPERATE A BUSINESS ENTERPRISE IN CAMBODIA

To enter Cambodia and establish a business enterprise as a foreign national, you first need to apply for the Ordinary (E-class) Visa. You can purchase this visa for US$35.00 from the sources listed below:

1. From the Cambodian embassy nearest your location.

2. From the official website of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, called the "e-visa portal" (https://www.evisa.gov.kh/)

3. From the international airport in Cambodia, purchased as "visa-on-arrival". To acquire the Ordinary (E-Class) Visa in this manner, you first need to ascertain, before you depart for Cambodia, whether holders of passports like yours are allowed to buy a visa-on-arrival in Cambodia.

The Ordinary E-Class Visa gives you the privilege to stay in Cambodia for thirty (30) days.

To continue your stay in the country longer than 30 days, you will be required to get an EB (extension for business) Visa before your 30-day Ordinary E-Class Visa expires. The EB Visa allows you to extend your stay in Cambodia for up to 12 months. You can renew this visa every year. The yearly renewal costs US$300.00.

Documents that are advisable to prepare or secure before you depart for Cambodia are as follows:

1. PASSPORT

Be sure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months and has at least one blank page left.

2. VISA

Before you depart for Cambodia, make sure you already have the Cambodian Ordinary E-Class Visa, or that you have confirmed that you are allowed to purchase a "visa-on-arrival" at a Cambodian international airport or land border crossing.

3. E-ARRIVAL CARD

This is a form you need to fill out online (at https://arrival.gov.kh/), seven (7) days before you go to Cambodia. The "E-Arrival Card" is really not a physical card. It is a QR Code that would be sent to your mobile phone. You show this QR Code to the immigration officer upon your arrival at a Cambodian international airport or land border crossing checkpoint.

4. CONFIRMED FLIGHT ITINERARY

Usually, in the form of a dated forward or return flight ticket.

5. PROOF OF LIVING ACCOMMODATION WHILE IN CAMBODIA

Usually, this is in the form of a reservation at a hotel, guesthouse, apartment, or rented house.

6. PROOF OF SUFFICIENT FUNDS

It is only on rare occasions that an immigration officer in a Cambodian airport would ask an arriving foreigner to show proof of supporting funds to cover expenses while in Cambodia. Sometimes, however, this can be directed to holders of passports issued by some African countries, or even from some countries in Southeast Asia. The financial proof can be in the form of reasonably adequate cash on hand, bank statements, or credit card records.

7. FORMALLY WRITTEN BUSINESS PLAN

Cambodian Immigration may not require you to show it upon arrival, but if you are asked to state the purpose of your visit and you declare that you plan to set up a business enterprise in Cambodia, you may be asked if you have a Business Plan to show as proof of your intention.

READ IMPORTANT ADVISORY

The government registration authorities strongly advise foreign entrepreneurs and investors in Cambodia to appoint a local (Cambodian) business registration agent or representative upon arrival in the country to assist in the process of establishing a business enterprise in Cambodia, particularly in understanding documents written in Khmer (the Cambodian language).
